Lee A. Heilig has been active in local, state, and national politics for over 30 years. A native of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, he attended local schools and graduated from the University of North Florida in 1990 with a B.A. degree in political science. While attending the University, he served as a student government senator and as president of the College Republican Committee on campus. During his collegiate career and after graduation, he worked in various locally-based campaigns for Republican candidates at all levels of government.
During recent years, the author has pursued a career path in civil construction, but has always kept an ear to political developments -- with particular attention toward military and national security issues. As a self-described "unrepentant Cold Warrior," he has written many position papers and articles advocating increased defense spending and military modernization.
Although an ardent foe of the former Soviet Union, the author has nonetheless kept a keen interest in Russian culture; and, he practices the art of 'Systema,' or, Russian Martial Art, which has prompted visits to Russia and Eastern Europe for training. His interests include classical literature, military history and aviation, and astronomy. He currently trains, writes, and resides in Fort Myers, Florida.
