The Deepwater Horizon oil drilling platform in happier days. In response to the tragic explosion and subsequent leakage, Obama declares, ORDERS, an across-the-board moratorium on all offshore drilling. This was done with disregard to relevant factors and the advice of his own panel of industry experts. Obama says he is concerned about American jobs. How does this arbitrary, heavy-handed action of banning oil drilling reconcile with his stated sensitivities for the American worker?
"I was down there a month ago... A month ago I was meeting with fishermen down there standing in the rain talking about what a potential crisis this could be... I don't sit around talking to experts because this is a college seminar. We talk to these people because they potentially have the best answers so I'll know whose a** to kick."
Barack Hussein Obama (6/7/2010)
Thank you, Obama. We're glad you're on top of things now, especially since you were shamed into genuine 'action' some 54 days after the explosion. By the way, we find your 'street talk' attempt to act tough and decisive lacking in presidential stature, judgement, and believability. So you stood in the rain. Aww, that's so sweet and selfless of you! Who knows how many thousands additional Americans will stand in unemployment lines because of your dictatorial response to the crisis at hand. Actually, although embarrassing to America at large, we would prefer that you spend even more time on your golf courses and vacation spots. Play some more basketball for those golden photo-ops you love so much. Soak up all the leisure you can. Things WILL be handled by the adults of private industry as soon as you get out of the way, stop your alpha-male wannabe posturing, and let free markets do what they do best.
