selective memory, selective truth  (posted 5/14/2009)

Who could forget the following, one of the many side-splittingly funny scenes from the popular 1980 movie The Blues Brothers with John Belushi as "Jake Blues." In one scene from the movie, Jake was facing certain doom at the hands of a jilted fiancee played by Carrie Fisher. To save his hide, Jake pleaded on his knees his lame excuses for leaving her at the altar...

It's funny when John Belushi blathers absurd denials in a movie. It's pathetic, disturbing, and disgusting when the Speaker of the House of Representatives does it. In what is shaping  up  to  be  a  cover-up of  monumental

time. Pelosi maintained her position of ignorance by saying, "We were not -- I repeat -- were not told that waterboarding or any of these enhanced interrogation methods were used."  However, after the recently released CIA documents revealed that she indeed was briefed on enhanced interrogation methods, including those used on Abu Zabaydah, Pelosi claimed that she was told that they were legal. Selective memory, or selective truth, Ms. Pelosi? Now, in a disgraceful display of abject falsification, Pelosi has changed her story yet again. In today's press conference, the Speaker insisted that the CIA attorneys charged with review of interrogation procedures had lied to her.  Not only had they lied to her, but President Bush had lied about the presence of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in Saddam Hussein's Iraq, which Democrats have nauseatingly whined had comprised the bulk of the Bush/Cheney rationale for going to war.  Forget the inconvenient truth that the appropriate House and Senate committees had the same access to CIA intelligence analysis that the President had. Forget the inconvenient truth that many of the Democratic representatives, on the eve of war, made speeches on the floors of the House and Senate that referenced that same intelligence. But, I digress.

techniques. Her trouble is real. There may never be a better time to strike. Pelosi, for too many reasons to list in today's column, has disgraced our Congress and the American people, and she must be removed. The idiot voters of California's 8th Congressional District will surely replace Pelosi with something just as repulsive, but at least the replacement will have no tenure. Watch and listen for updates from the Madam herself in the next few days. There could well be a story 'Waterboarding 6.0' on the way at any time.

"No, I didn't. Honest!... I ran out of gas. I, I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT!"
Had these been the actions of a Republican, especially a Speaker of the House, the Democratic Party and sycophantic Mainstream Media would be screaming for censure or expulsion. The shrieks for blood would be deafening.  The brain-dead voters of the California 8th Congressional District would never vote the Madam out of office. This could be the only way to expel the stench she has brought to the Speaker's office.
The D.C. Madam, a.k.a. Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. The editor apologizes for this visual offense. Incidentally, is she sharing Michael Jackson's nose? Just wondering. I know it was a cheap shot, but I just couldn't help myself - ed.  (photo courtesy moonbattery.com)
I was never briefed about waterboarding. The C.I.A. lied to me. I was not informed. George Bush lied about WMDs! I was fighting a war! There was a terrible flood! Locusts!  I SWEAR I DIDN'T KNOW!
At least Jake Blues knew he was full of...  baloney.
Pelosi's recriminations against the CIA and the Bush Administration are further evidence of a career political hack whose political fortunes have taken a severe downward turn. Lying and cynicism are catching up with Pelosi, and her press conference flailings validate her desperation.  Even House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, (D) MD did not confirm Pelosi's outrageous assertions when asked by reporters earlier today. I'm reticent to show open optimism in these circumstances. After all, we had a so-called Commander-in-Chief some ten years ago who escaped the noose of Senate conviction after his impeachment. Congress had him dead to rights for his series of lies before a grand jury, and his compromise of the Oval Office. Still, if there is one universal constant in Beltway politics, it is that career politicians are craven, and they will throw anybody overboard if their ship is taking on water.

With astronomical spending and debt mounting daily, and his thuggish control of American businesses beginning to draw popular ire, Obama may need to cut political losses by dumping liabilities overboard.  Pelosi could present a welcome diversion from Obama's socialist agenda, while garnering more praise from the worshipping MSM for his 'non-partisan' efforts toward good government. Obama could go along with an eventual call for a Justice Department Special Proscecutor to investigate these glaring inconsistencies with the D.C. Madam's   stories    about    her    knowledge   of    interrogation

proportions, the D.C. Madam is scrambling to triangulate, backtrack, and retract earlier statements regarding her knowledge of what are known as "enhanced interrogation techniques," which include the oh so dreaded waterboarding. Events that surround this growing scandal are occurring too quickly for the format of Raptor Republic to adequately cover. However, with obvious shaking -- shaking indicative of nervousness born of guilt -- the venomous "Queen Bee" of congressional malfeasance stammered yet another denial of complicity in a hastily called Washington press conference, as we see in the link below.

From a report in yesterday's The Bulletin, Rep. Pete Hoekstra, the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee (which is chaired by Pelosi) said, "Clearly, her left wing is outraged that waterboarding was used... "The bottom line is she and her key staff, they all knew about it." He added that she was aware  of  the  practice  but  said nothing at the
